Slovak charity aids Kyabakadde needy children

THE Slovakia Christian Children’s Charity, Erko-Dobra-Novina, has started a socio-economic development programme for AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Kyabakadde schools.
Justin Mayanja, the coordinator of Kyampisi Rural Development Programme (KRUDEP), said they had received the first installment of sh70m. This would benefit children in Kyabakadde Primary School and Kyabakadde St. Cyprian High School.
Mayanja said the project had provided the children with school fees, uniforms, lunch, medical care, scholastic materials, blankets and mosquito nets.
The project also has a revolving fund, where families of the children are given 50 chicks and a White Large breed pig to promote their self-sustainance.
Through the project, two classroom blocks have been rehabilitated at Kyabakadde Primary School.
Presiding over the projects’ inaugural ceremony recently, the District Education Officer, Godfrey Sserwanja, asked the children to work hard so that the charity of their donors is not abused.
“We want you to get professional qualifications so that you can help other needy people in your communities,†Sserwanja said.
