THE Bishop of Lugazi Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Mathias Ssekamanya has called upon leaders not to cling onto power.

“Leaders should play their part and let others run the office,” Ssekamanya said on Saturday during the platinum celebrations at Uganda Martyrs Junior Boys School, Namilyango.

The school was set up in 1932 by the Franciscan Sisters under the leadership of Mother Kevin from Ireland after a request from Bishop Campling, the then Prelate of Upper Nile Vicariate.

Several old boys, religious leaders and educationists attended the celebrations which climaxed with performances from the pupils.

Ssekamanya asked parents and teachers to instill discipline in their children and encourage them to be God-fearing.

“We thank God for the vision which was given to Mother Kevin and her companions for starting the school. We also hail the parents and teachers that have supported the school,” the headteacher, Sr. Theresa Kabananura, said.

The Superior General of Little Sisters, Sr. Mary Namuddu, hailed the school for acquiring a website and the Shield Magazine. “A website helps the school to be internationally recognised and the pupils should utilise the Internet well.”
