A young girl suspected to be in her teenage years was found dead in Kireka on Sunday. Juliet Onyango, a student of Sir Apollo Secondary School in Kayunga, died in Peter Kyeyune’s one-room-house in Kamuli ‘B’ zone in Kireka.

Kyeyune, 27, who is suspected to have been Onyango’s boyfriend, was also found unconscious, with a deep cut on his neck.

The Police rushed Kyeyune to Mulago Hospital where he died. The Kamuli ‘B’ LCI chairman, Busulwa Kamya, said Onyango had aborted a few days earlier but Kyeyune did not have enough money to look after her. It is believed that some post-abortion complications caused Onyango’s death.

Sarah Eperu, a resident in the area, said Onyango visited Kyeyune at around 1:00pm on Sunday. Later, Kyeyune alerted his relative about the girl’s death.

“The relative made an alarm and we all gathered. We found an unconscious Kyeyune lying on top of the girl. There was a pool of blood from his slit throat,” Eperu narrated.

According to Kamya, Kyeyune committed suicide after the girl died. Kampala Extra Police spokesperson, Simeo Nsubuga, said they have launched investigations into the circumstances that led to the duo’s death.

“We visited the scene and found that there was a knife, which Kyeyune could have used to cut his neck,” Nsubuga explained. The incident comes hardly a week after another girl only identified as Doreen died in Pentagon Lodge in Kireka zone A.

The girl, suspected to have died after taking poisonous foodstuffs, had gone to the lodge with her partner, Robert Mubangizi, a boda boda cyclist.
