CRANE Bank has injected sh35m in the inaugural Crane Bank Classic golf tournament at Uganda Golf Club this weekend.

The bank’s head of marketing Aldrine Nsubuga announced the stakes at the launch of the tournament at Crane Chambers in Kampala yesterday.

Uganda Professional Golfers’ Association captain and tournament coordinator Deo Akope represented Uganda Golf Club.

Nsubuga disclosed that the bank would annually sponsor the event in addition to the Easter Kigezi Crane Bank event.

“We are friends of golf and hope the friendship will last longer. Sponsoring sports is one of the ways in which we give back to the community,” Nsubuga stated.
Akope hailed the bank for the hefty package.

The 36-hole tournament, that had so far attracted 172 competitors, is a medal play event.

The competition will be spiced with a professionals’ category in which sh3m will be won in cash prizes.
