ARE you searching for jewellery that will make your appearance classy? If yes, then choose gold jewellery.

Jewellery speaks volumes about one’s class. “Gold jewellery makes one appear smart and classy,” says Kirti Dodia, a managing director at Jit Jewellers at the Grand Imperial Hotel.

Kitri says people think gold jewellery is expensive, but its advantage is seen in the long run because it does not fade and has life-time guarantee.

Gold jewellery comes in different accessories: earrings, ear pins, necklaces, rings, watches and anklets.

How to choose genuine gold jewellery
The market is flooded with gold jewellery, which makes it tricky for one to choose genuine jewellery. However, below are tips to guide you choose genuine gold jewellery:

Check out for ct gold stamped jewellery. Ct shows the quality of the gold and it ranges from 9-22 ct.

To confirm that it is genuine gold, the shop attendant will dip it in an Acidic solution. Genuine gold does not fade or dissolve when dipped in acid.

When shopping, you will find the jewellery in two different colours: White gold and yellow gold. White gold jewellery is a mixture of yellow and white gold that looks like silver but the white gold is just rhodium on top of yellow gold.

However, the jewellery should also have a ct number to show its quality. The customer then chooses jewellery depending on the taste.

However, if someone does not get the design of jewellery in the shops, she or he can place an order.

Ajay Dodiya, a manager at Jit Jewellers at Charm Towers, says they have a workshop for customers who want to order for jewellery.

Dodiya says it takes two to three days for an order to materialise.

Maintenance
Dodiya says it is easy to maintain gold jewellery. When it gets dirty, you clean it using lukewarm water and omo detergent and use a sponge or a simple brush to clean it.

He says the jewellery can be cleaned by the dealers using chemicals.
One should be careful not to break the jewellery.

But in case it breaks it can be repaired at a jewellery workshop or redesign depending on a customer’s choice.

Kabalisa says people who have unpierced ears can wear clip-on earrings. However, they cause pain when worn for a long time.

While shopping, you will find lots of jewellery coated with yellow gold commonly known as ‘guarantee’ in down town shops. This type fades and causes itching and skin irritation.
