COMMONWEALTH featherweight champion Jackson “Action” Asiku is in talks with Matchroom Sport Promotions to organise his title defence in September in Kampala.

“I have been in talks with Matchroom owner Barry Hearn about having my defence in Kampala in September,” Asiku, told The New Vision on phone. “At the moment I am training here in Perth (Australia), for a fight this Saturday as I try to kick out the rust in me ahead of bigger fights later in the year.”

Asiku last fought in June 2006 against Jamie McKeever, in the first defence of his title.

Several local promotional companies are putting themselves together to organise a boxing show in Uganda as part of the activities for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which will be held in November.
