SIR — Makerere University Business School (Mubs) has advertised its own degree programmes as an independent university for private students for the academic year 2007/08 and many ignorant Ugandans are picking the admission forms up to now.

Which degrees will these people be awarded if Mubs has never been an independent university?
The state minister for higher education, Gabriel Opio, said the committee of parliament was given two weeks within which to appoint a new principal for Mubs and those two weeks are over!
What should we really do? is Mubs already an independent university from Makerere and should we go on and pick their admission forms? We need urgent clarification on the matter.
