Uganda refs shine in Moshi, Tanzania

UGANDA referees Ali Sabila and Aisha Semambo have been lauded for their high degree of excellence in the East Africa Cup in Moshi, Tanzania.

UGANDA referees Ali Sabila and Aisha Semambo have been lauded for their high degree of excellence in the East Africa Cup in Moshi, Tanzania.

The pair were part of 11 Ugandan referees that officiated in the regional championship dominated by Kenyan teams.

Tournament director Svein Olsen lauded the Ugandan man and woman in black as ‘a good example for other referees in the region to emulate’.

Kenya sides CHRISC Nairobi and MYSA (Mathare Youth Sports Association) maintained their dominance in the championship meant to empower the youth through sport.

Uganda fielded seven teams from Kabale, Kisoro, Luwero, Arua and Masaka.
Uganda’s top side CHIRSC Mbale bowed out in the U-16 category quarter-final after losing 2-0 to eventual champions EMIMA of Tanzania.
