SIR — I am disappointed about how land issues at Mengo are being handled. Sometime ago, all residents on the Kabaka’s land were approached with threats of being thrown out from their pieces of land by KK Land Property management on behalf of the Buganda Land Board unless sh80,000 per plot was paid! A lot of money was collected.
We were promised that an official acknowledgement in form of a lease was to be given to us. The issue was handled in a hurry with set deadlines and we expected an equally quick response in terms of our leases. To our amazement, todate there is no official communication. This means that we might have been fleeced. I call upon Mengo to kindly intervene and let us know our position.
