BISHOP Misusera Bugimbi of Luweero diocese on Saturday walked away from a function to mark 15 years of Ndejje University, in protest over long speeches. Bugimbi, who was the chief guest, had asked the master of the ceremonies to let him speak but he was hindered by the Vice-Chancellor, Bishop Michael Ssenyimba, who spoke for a long time.

“I have another function to attend and I am late,” the bishop said as he left. Ssenyimba, however, continued with his speech, thanking God and the church for the guidance since 1992 when the university was established.

Ssenyimba asked the Government to grant them a university charter. The celebrations kicked off with a tour of the campus followed by a special mass.

Former Vice-President the late Dr. Samson Kisekka and the late Bishop Misaeri Kauma were honoured for their financial contribution and moral support to the university’s establishment.
