A man in Iganga district appeared before Charles Sserubuga, the Iganga Chief Magistrate, on Thursday to answer charges of murder.

Majidu Kasule last week allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death.

Marion Nandase, was in her shop when Kasule, is suspected to have stabbed her four times in the abdomen and chest with a knife.

A witness said he saw Nandase’s intestines oozing out of a deep cut in her abdomen.

She died shortly upon arrival at Iganga Hospital.

The witness added that Kasule tried to commit suicide using the same knife but was restrained by people who had gathered at the scene.

Christopher Kwerit, the district criminal investigations chief, said Kasule was then taken to the Police station.

Nandase’s relatives suspect that Kasule was disappointed after learning that his lover was to marry another man.

Kasule was remanded in prison until July 18 when he will reappear in court.
