IN its pursuit of discovering talent, Coca Cola has partnered with Music TV channel MTV base to offer a gig of a lifetime to three East Africans, in what has been dubbed the MTV Coca Cola VJ search.

A sparking personality and ability to pick a microphone is all it will take as winners look to host shows on MTV base.

Auditions are open to those between 18 and 25 years. The VJ search campaign was unveiled to the media at Silk Royale on Friday.

For one odd reason, those who graced the stage spoke through noses. However, those who excelled were way above the required age bracket. Capital Fm’s Flavia Tumusiime was a revelation and received befitting applause.

The auditions will take place on August 26, at the Basement. MTV base stars Sizwe Dhlomo and Fikile Moeti will be the masters of ceremony alongside James Onen and Karitas Karisimbi.

“If you fancy your chances at TV stardom, this is your chance. Only the first 1,000 eligible candidates will be considered,” said Alex Okosi, the senior vice president & general manager of MTV Networks Africa.

Okosi said three hopefuls will go for the final round, where viewers will get to know them closely for over two weeks on WBS TV before voting.

The Ugandan winner will be announced on September 13, the Kenyan one on September 20 and the Tanzanian winner on September 21.
