BUYAGA MP Barnabas Tinkasimire was yesterday granted a non-cash bail of sh10m by the Mbale High Court. His sureties, Wilfred Nuwagaba and Tororo mayor Jack Ogola, were also bonded at sh10m each.

Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi ordered Tinkasimire to deposit his passport with the court and to report to it once every month.

He was also ordered to appear in the Chief magistrate’s court in Tororo whenever his case comes up for mention.

Tinkasimire was arrested from parliament last week on charges of embezzlement.
He allegedly embezzled sh2.5m and failed to account for sh6.5m while working in Tororo district as an assistant chief administrative officer.

Speaking outside court, Tinkasimire said: “I thank the court for upholding the rule of law,” soon after which he was whisked away by relatives and friends.
