THE National University Sports Federations in Uganda – NUSFU – preparations for the world games due in Bangkok, Thailand have been boosted by five air tickets from the international body.
Rwenzori Water has also offered water to the team’s training camp until they depart for the games.
NUSFU secretary Patrick Ssebuliba said that the tickets, which come in time as the federation is still looking for sponsorship, will cater for some of the top sportsmen to the games due August 5-15. “It is a great boost to the team to this year’s games,†said Ssebuliba.
“I take this opportunity to ask other corporate companies to help sports.†Uganda won three gold medals in the last edition in Izmir, Turkey.
The tickets offer was boosted with more news that the America based athletes were to meet their own travel costs to the games, while Rwenzori had also offered 300 cartons of water, to help them during their preparations.
“Even the organising committee has given a 50% reduction on accommodation, while the Uganda Thai consul, James Mulwana has offered to meet the visa requirements for the entire contingent,†added Ssebuliba.
Uganda is to enter 60 athletes for track and field, badminton, swimming, table tennis and chess from Makerere, MUBS, Ndejje, UCU, KIU, Kampala, MUST, Kyambogo, Gulu and Bugema universities.
