Parents, the school, the government, the community around are all supposed to play their role if good performance is to be achieved. Many parents, at the opening of the term, do not allow children to report to school on the first day or week. this affects performance because the syllabus may not be completed.

Such parents believe that the first week is just for cleaning the school compound! This is very unwise as it makes the students idle, which may result in indiscipline.

The ministry of Education should lay down strict laws to ensure all parents send their children to school on the first day or week of the term. It is not right to blame teachers all the time for children’s poor performance.
