Moses Ali, get out of Kyanjo’s hair

EDITOR—I would like to comment on your article “Kyanjo warned on secession threats” published on Friday. When MP Hussein Kyanjo says that Buganda should secede, citing marginalisation by the central government, this is his opinion and he has a right to express it.

What Gen Moses Ali should know just like any other person who may want attack Kyanjo is that Kyanjo has a right to his personal opinion concerning Buganda or any other matter in which he may have interest.

However, the readers ought to know that Kyanjo’s opinion may not necessarily reflect the thoughts of others or the constituency which he represents in parliament. Other people have in the past expressed their opinions similar to that of Kyanjo.

For example, Gulu district chairman Norbert Mao has called for a secession of northern Uganda to become the Nile State. Freedom of speech is a basic human right.
