Finance state minister Fred Omach Jachan advised the company to design strategies to attract more savings in line with the Governments’ aspiration to increase savings that stand at only 10% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“The Government’s target is to increase savings to 20% as a percentage of GDP if we are attain the development that we desire,” Omach said.

He said Uganda’s high population and urban growth rates have caused a challenge to the hosing sector and providers of mortgage finance.

“Housing Finance company should turn the Government’s policy of providing house ownership into strategies to make more business,” Omach advised.
