THE Nabagereka (queen) of Buganda, Lady Sylvia Nagginda, is a crowd puller. If people know that she will be at your party, you can rest assured that everyone will be lining up to also be invited.

She has also become a fashion icon. You find people staring at her pictures and commenting on her outfits. She is a sharp dresser who has left many women wondering about her endless supply of gomesis.

We bring you some of the outfits that left us gaping and wishing we could look just like her. We also tell you how you can look like her. In our main picture (left), the Nabagereka is wearing an Indian outfit called a sharara. This is made from heavily embroidered, beautiful shiffon or silk material.

The sharara is bought already made but for the bigger size, you’ll need to buy material and have it sown.

You can get a beautiful sharara at any indian boutique in Kampala for between sh250,000 and sh400,000. Bridal shararas are more expensive going for up to $1,000.
