Nine town councils are to acquire mechanical garbage equipment and skips.

The project, which will be funded by the World Bank’s International Development Association, is part of the Uganda Second Environmental Management and Capacity Building Project.

The National Environmental and Management Authority (NEMA) has therefore called for bids for the supply of the equipment.

According to the website, www.ed.nl, the equipment will be delivered to the towns of Fort Portal, Jinja, Kabale, Kasese, Lira, Mbale, Mbarara, Mukono and Soroti.

The first lot includes nine front-end loader tractors with a backhoe, trailer, dozer blade attachment and a minimum 60hp engine capacity.

Lot two includes nine skip loader trucks with a minimum payload capacity of six tonnes, while the third lot needs 200 skip containers.

Bidders should submit the name of a local agent in Uganda to provide after sales service, have a minimum liquidity ratio of one and should have executed at least three contracts of a similar nature and value within the last three years.

Bidders are free to bid for any one or more lots. Bidding documents cost $50 and may be purchased from NEMA’s Jinja Road office.
