ORIENT Bank customers will now be able to access banking services 24-hours following the launch of SMS and e-banking facilities.

Shamsher Khemani, the general manager, said the Internet banking, electronic funds transfer, mobile phone banking, point of sale and automated teller machines services, will allow customers to transact business electronically from anywhere and anytime.

“E-banking has made a revolution in traditional way of banking where customers used to wait hours to deposit/withdraw cash, conversion of foreign currency, restrain of getting timely statements and banking hour’s restrictions.

“Customers can avoid coming to the bank for inquiries and other related matters but can view transactions and statements anytime on the Internet,” Khemani said.

He said due to traffic jams in Kampala, e-banking will come in handy since customers do not have to visit the bank physically.

The services, he said will also allow customers to do their banking even after banking hours and from anywhere with Internet access including outside Uganda.
He said for security and confidentiality, clients will be required to fill in forms.

Once the form is filled, it is forwarded to bank’s ICT department which will process the User ID and password within 24 hours.
