SEVERAL men of God have taken to glorifying Him through music or ministering (preaching God’s word). Now joining the Gospel music scene is Pastor Joseph Francis Oboi, who sometimes sings with his wife, Zam.
After a 16-year wait, Oboi is in position to release his first album, Yesu Bon Epedori (Only Jesus Can). Oboi will launch the six-track album this Sunday at Rock of Ages Church, at 2:00pm.
He sings in English, Luganda, Kiswahili, Lingala and Iteso so as to reach out to diverse cultures. Standing out on the album are tracks; Yesu Bon Epedori and Obia Ipuga (Come and reign Oh Lord).
The latter stands out because of Zam’s vocals. Almost all songs are sung in the Afrobeat genre, but climax with a fast soukous guitar rhythm save for Jesus Said, a carbon copy of reggae singer Lucky Dube’s Victims and House of Exile.
The CD will soon to be released by X-Zone International.
