DEFENDING champions Kololo SSS snatched the bragging rights against arch-foe, Busoga College Mwiri with a gripping seven-run victory in the opening game of the Super Six stage, reports Joseph Opio.

The duel between the Coca-Cola Schools Cricket Week titans had been dubbed a ‘final before the final’ and it lived up to its pre-match billing with a fiercely-contested affair.

Having seen their entire batting line-up sent back to the balcony after 149 runs, Kololo’s heroic bowlers ensured that Mwiri’s batsmen endured even briefer innings, bowled all out for 142.

That triumph, along with a 37-run win over Aga Khan later in the afternoon, edged Kololo closer to the semifinals where they could be joined by Makerere College who defeated Ndejje and Budo.

Mwiri and Aga Khan are the other favourites to complete the semi-final cast going into today’s morning session.
