NINETEEN senior army officers from the East African region on a course at Kimaka Army Commandants College, have toured Mukwano Industries to learn about the national economy.

The visit, an annual activity, is aimed at acquainting the army with the role played by the manufacturing sector in boosting the national economy.

The Jinja-based college has been sending its officers to Mukwano Industries annually as part of the activities that climax the senior officers’ training programmes before they are passed out.

The group leader, Brig. Andrew Guti, expressed gratitude to Mukwano for having enabled them learn about the processes taken and challenges faced by the manufacturing sector.

“We promise to do everything possible within our means to jealously protect the manufacturing sector against any insecurity,” he said.

David Mulasanyi, the Mukwano Industries corporate communications manager said: “We are committed to supporting the army whenever any opportunity avails itself.”

“We have taken them through all the manufacuring processes. We hope this will make them understand the importance of the sector to the economy.”
