FOR most people, when the urge for a pizza comes, they head to their favourite pizza house and devour the delicacy away.

FOR most people, when the urge for a pizza comes, they head to their favourite pizza house and devour the delicacy away.

Never does it cross their mind that they can make the pizza at home. This might involves a series of activities, but they can be done in any average home setting.

Follow these steps and you will be inviting people over for pizza at your home within minutes.

Recipe
Thin crust Italian Valdostana pizza

Ingredients
Tomato sauce
Mozzarella cheese (available in supermarkets around town)
Hard boiled eggs
Pre-cooked bacon
A kilogramme of wheat flour

Preparation
Making the dough: Get a reasonably-sized bowl or mini-basin and pour a kilogramme of wheat flour. This can be used to make two medium-size pizzas.

Mix the wheat flour with yeast (quarter of a kilogramme or two-medium spoonfuls), three spoonfuls of salt, three spoonfuls of cooking oil, two spoonfuls of vegetable oil and mix with lukewarm water. The mixing must be done with bare hands.

How does one get to know that the dough is firm enough to continue with the preparation of the pizza?
Chef Thomas of Mamba Point Pizzeria on Plot 62, Lumumba Avenue, says one gets to know that the dough is ready when it stops sticking on one’s hands.

After about 15 to 20 minutes of mixing, cover the dough with a damp cloth to maintain its tenderness and leave it for about 15 minutes.

After that, pull out a rolling pin, sprinkle some flour on it and press the dough until it is completely flat. Pour tomato sauce on the dough.

Once the tomato sauce has set on the dough, throw shredded mozzarella cheese onto it, followed by pre-cooked bacon and boiled eggs. The eggs should be boiled for more than eight minutes to become hard.

Slice the eggs and spread the portions across the dough, then insert the pizza into a hot oven and leave it for at least five to 10 minutes.

Making a pizza is possible with an electric, charcoal or even gas oven. With the charcoal stove, the aroma from the burning enhances the taste of the pizza.

Presentation
Place the pizza on a sizeable plate to prevent it from spilling over. For easy serving, split the pizza into pieces. Enjoy with a cold drink, preferably a soft drink.
