Use repellents to scare off biting midges

BITING midges (ceratopogonidae), sometimes mistaken to be sand flies, are some of the smallest blood-sucking flies. Biting midges breed mainly in swampy areas, salt marshes and moist organic soils. The blood-sucking adults are a menace because of their bites. Some species transmit filarial worms.

Control measure:

In controlling biting midges, larvacides are applied and where possible, baytex EC by fogging. baygon HN and Solfac UL can also be used. One can also use repellents like Autan on the human body.
