Newton Amutuhairwe, the man accused of attempting to murder his sister is mentally fit to face trial, court heard yesterday. State prosecutor Jane Musementa told court that the medical report proved Amutuhairwe of Bukoto, Gerere zone Nakawa Division, is not mentally deranged. Amutuhairwe allegedly attempted to cause the death of Milly Ahabwe by hitting her with a metal pestle. She broke her arm and lost an eye.

The RDC, Martha Asimwe, said gunmen suspected to be Congolese were demanding a ransom of sh500,000 and fishing nets in exchange for the two Ugandan fishermen abducted last Saturday from Nsonga landing site on Lake Albert. The two, only identified as Musoga and Zziwa, are still being held at Kasenyi in Western DR Congo.
