IT was fun for thousands of children at Kapeeka orphanage and those from Rubaga division in Kampala on Christmas Eve. Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre put a smile on the children’s faces as he served them cake, food and gifts at the church’s grounds.

The children played, danced and performed skits. Kayanja said giving gifts to children would help them reflect during Christmas season.

“We know that these children live hard lives. For some, this maybe the only party they will have. Some have never even celebrated a birthday. So, as a church, we decided to celebrate with them during Christmas and Easter.”

Kayanja said teaching children unity at a tender age would help them build a sense of togetherness.

“Children don’t know the difference between tribes and classes. When you invite them they will all turn up. We, the older people, should endeavour to see that this trend continues to avoid tribalism.”

Kayanja said the parties were making a difference in the children’s lives.

“The first time we organised such a party, some children were malnourished and were not attending school.

“But now we have noticed a huge difference in their health and they have improved in the English language.”

Kayanja also gave gifts to 21 widows.
