Kayanja prophecy is not called for
PASTOR Robert Kayanja’s continued prediction that one of the presidential candidates will die before the February 23 elections is not only disturbing but also uncalled for.
PASTOR Robert Kayanja’s continued prediction that one of the presidential candidates will die before the February 23 elections is not only disturbing but also uncalled for.
Kayanja is an internationally respected evangelist and his ‘prophesies’ are known to come true sometimes but he should be sensitive of the kind of society in which we live.
The Rubaga Miracle Centre pastor has put himself on a very slippery path that is likely to dent his reputation should the prediction not come true. Should it come true — God forbid — he still risks being misunderstood as someone with enormous powers who could have averted the tragedy but let it off to fulfil his prophesy.
Kayanja knows the devastating effect of death on the family members and the community. He is a gifted preacher, an eloquent orator and could have made his prediction using less stressful words like ‘a tragedy befalling one of the presidential candidates’ rather than the word death.
Jesus is known to have healed those afflicted by disease and raised the dead — Luke 7:1-15, 8:40-56; John 11: 38-44. While Pastor Kayanja is highly respected, the tone with which he announces the prediction appears as if he is happy with the possible demise of one of the presidential candidates.
Pastor Kayanja is a man of God and would have been expected to declare a day of prayer to try to implore the Almighty God to change His mind and save this unfortunate presidential candidate from death. With God everything is possible.
Death is inevitable. But for our dear Pastor to continue preaching that some people have less than two months to lose a loved one is the most unfortunate thing.
Kayanja should know the panic his prediction is likely to cause or has already caused not only among the presidential candidates but also their immediate family members and supporters. Death is a secret and should be kept as such.
