RUBAGA South MP John Ken Lukyamuzi yesterday led his constituents to demolish a fence on a plot in Ndeeba central, Rubaga, that he said had been illegally fenced off.

“This plot is still free until Katrina (the owner) is paid. I will not leave this place until that fence has been demolished,” Lukyamuzi vowed.

The plot is suspected to have been fenced off by a man only identified as Katurebe, who claims to have bought it from Katrina Nakungu.

Lukyamuzi said President Yoweri Museveni had stopped the eviction of people from land and said nobody should defy the order.

He said the bona fide land tenant could not be evicted without his or her consent.

“This is violation of people’s rights to acquire land but I will fight this abuse,” Lukyamuzi said.

Nakungu, the owner of the plot, said she had never sold the plot to anyone but unknown people evicted her tenants at night.

“I have never sold my plot and I do not intend to sell it. I have lived on it since 1939, but a man called Seguya has been tossing me up and down that they want to pay for that plot, which they did not,” she said.
