IDDI Aduha is to be celebrated on Tuesday, the director of Sharia in the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Sheikh Rajab Kakooza, has said.
He said Monday would be a day of fasting for Muslims.

“Monday January 9 is a day of Alpha, which all Muslims who did not go to Mecca must observe by fasting,” he said on Tuesday.

Kakooza said Idd prayers would be held at Old Kampala SS playground to avoid disrupting the construction at the UMSC headquarters and prayers would begin at 9:00am.

He appealed to Muslims to slaughter ‘clean animals’ as directed by the Holy Koran as a sign of observing the rituals performed by Ibrahim and to ask God for mercy.

“As we slaughter our animals, we must ask God to maintain tranquillity in the country and rescue us from all problems,” Kakooza said.
