FORMER minister for supplies in the Obote II regime Moses Apiliga Tako on Friday joined the race for West Moyo parliamentary seat.
Apiliga, a Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC) diehard, said his return to active politics was prompted by the low development pace in the district since Dr. Milton Obote’s government was toppled.
“It is time that we start developing our district by electing vibrant people,†he said.
Apiliga, a doctor based in United Kingdom, cited Erepi Primary college, Moyo technical institute and Moyo hospital as UPC contribution.
Apiliga is contesting against Uganda’s former ambassador to China, Philip Idro from NRM and James Koloni of FDC.
Others are Frank Olok Asobasi, Boniface Rodrigo Edema and Clare Kareyo, all independents.
Apiliga's supporters sang UPC songs and slogan as they escorted him for nominations at the district headquarters.
“That is our man, we have been supporting others due to his absence. We know him very well for bringing development projects in our district,†they said.
