THE Bombers’ Commonwealth Games preparations have hit a rock again.

The national boxing team was due to start non-residential training at Lugogo early this week but failed to get off because cash-strapped UABF has failed to facilitate the boxers.

Uganda is to be represented by Sharif Bogere (feather), Martin Mubiru ((flyweight), Atanus Mugerwa (feather) and Eddy Akora (lightweight).

The quartet who are supposed to be building punching power for the Melbourne Games, lack food and transport.

“Being in a national boxing team is just misery. Hard training needs good feeding but we cannot even afford water here,” grumbled one boxer who turned up at Lugogo yesterday, had a light work-out, before returning home.

“We are doing our best to find a solution,” said Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) secretary Sande Musoke.
