THE Uganda National Youth Development (UNYOD) has given out 20 motorcycles worth sh54m to the youth in Iganga district.

Last week, 30 motorcycles were also delivered to Bugiri district.
Executive secretary Elly Bukenya handed over the motorcycles to the beneficiaries in Luuka county on Tuesday.

UNYOD has distributed over 100 motorcycles to youths in Iganga, Kayunga, Fort portal, Mbarara and Bugiri districts.

Bukenya said the project targeted bodaboda riders countrywide and aimed at improving their economic status.
“We provide bodaboda motorcycles at affordable prices. Beneficiaries pay in installments for period of one year,” he said, urging people to develop a culture of saving.

Bukenya appealed to the district to support government projects that are geared at fighting poverty in households and warned cyclists against diverting funds meant to service the loans for the motorcycles.
