CHEERING supporters welcomed DP presidential candidate Ssebaana Kizito, as he arrived in southwestern Uganda to canvass for votes.

Ssebaana’s entourage moved through the rough hilly terrain from village to village in Bushenyi, Rukungiri and Kanungu districts, where he addressed several rallies.

Party supporters lined up along the dusty roads displaying the clenched fist party symbol, while others flashed the FDC two-finger salute.

They chanted, “DP egumire (DP is strong). This is our DP of the old days which had been blocked from participating in elections.”

In Kihihi, Ssebaana said the NRM was witnessing its last days in power and later opened the party branch office, the first in Kanungu.

“Museveni’s term is over. Twenty years as President is a lot. NRM has nothing new to say. We are witnessing the last kicks of a dying horse. They say Ssebaana is not a soldier and cannot lead. But it is a national and not a personal army.

Also, my voters are my military. We want change and I am capable.

Nkyaali mbooko. I will be the commander-in-chief and command respect from the army,” Ssebaana said amid chants of ‘DP oyee’ and ‘Museveni agende’ (Museveni should go).

“I was an MP, a cabinet minister and I am the mayor of mayors. Isn’t that experience enough? We shall use brain power and not bullets. Amaanyi tegalya (force never wins),” he added.

In Bushenyi, Ssebaana addressed rallies in Kabwohe-Itendero town, Buyanja and Rwentuuha.

In Kanungu, he add-ressed rallies in Bugongi, Kambuga, Katojo, Katete, Kihihi, Butogota, Rutenga, Kyabuyorwa and Kanungu town.
