SEASONED player Shadrack Kantinti looks poised to make a fifth appearance at the chess Olympiad.

Kantinti goes for the last three rounds of the local qualifiers at Lugogo leading his rivals at six points.

“I need at least one more win and two draws to make the team and I am sure this will happen,” Kantinti said earlier on.

The top six players at the close of the 11-round qualifiers, will compete at the Olympiad to run between May to June in Italy.

Kantinti’s good display last week pushed him to six points, one more than four rivals, including national champion Moses Kawuma.

Harold Wanyama and Hassan Mulambe at 4.5 points each and former Olympian Grace Nsubuga at 4 are also in contention.

Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) secretary Godfrey Gali, said all the top eight players have a chance of qualifying.

“Kantinti has the best chance being on top, he is enjoying good form,” Gali said.
