KADS band has come out to openly support Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in his bid for a third term.

“The band travels as an advance team to hold a kasiki for the president,” says Mr. Willy Kamukama, the chairman KADS band. On Friday 13, KADS band was in Mpigi ahead of the president’s visit on Sunday. Songs off the band’s Kisanja album were played accompanied by video clips showing the atrocities committed by the past governments.

The artistes including, John Kahwa, Prossy Kankunda, Bernard Munyigwa, Tony Kalanzi and Rashida Mukasa were atop a truck and performed their pro-kisanja tunes that wowed over 600 children and adults at the roundabout. The songs praise NRM and scold the regimes of the late Obote and Idi Amin.

They also urged voters to vote for Museveni for having brought peace. Romeo Akiiki’s Alluta Continua Soldier is the only non-aligned song and Kamukama says it is because Akiiki works with the UN and he is not allowed to participate in partisan politics.

However, in the song Akiiki puts a face on the army, despite the institution being synonymous with scams like ghost soldiers, under-size uniforms, expired food and junk helicopters. He praises the militants for the sacrifices they make in ensuring we are relatively secure.

Kamukama said he was not paid for the work he was doing for the president.
“We get the money that finances our shows from NRM supporters and fans, “ Kamukama said. “ We are sacrificing to Museveni because we need him to rule Uganda, “ said Kamukama. “ It is during Museveni ‘ s regime that we have got peace of performing everywhere and anytime and if this industry is to grow, we have to support the stability the regime has brought musicians,” Kamukama said.
