EIGHT more women have reported being victims to serial killer Baker Walusimbi’s deadly robberies, in the unfolding story of his grisly murders in Kampala city and its suburbs.

The Police are also working on clues from 37 cellular phone headsets and 30 ATM cards recovered from Walusimbi last week at his rented residence in Bugolobi, a city suburb.

The Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) head, David Magara, on Saturday said the victims had, through telephone calls and SMS messages, reported having been robbed by Walusimbi in the same way. Others went to the VCCU headquarters in Kireka near Kampala, on Saturday after the media reported the suspect’s confession.

Walusimbi arrested on January 21, confessed to killing three women in Kampala and taking their property, including cash.

The deceased were Maureen Nabbaale, an S.6 student of Makerere College School, Jackie Najjombwe and Maria Annet Katasi, all residents of Pidar Zone, Najjanankumbi on Entebbe road.

Police said a woman working with Simba Telecom, who accepted a lift from Walusimbi from Namugongo, was robbed of her belongings and dumped in Mbuya.
Another who took a lift from Bweyogerere trading centre was robbed of all her belongings and dumped in a valley near Progressive Secondary School in Bweyogerere.

The Police said two women from Rukungiri, who attended the NRM conference at Namboole stadium, reported having been robbed of their belongings and dumped in a swamp in Nansana on Hoima road.

Magara, who declined to reveal their names, said Walusimbi always targeted women because they were soft. He said Walusimbi confessed to having killed the three women after one of them said she knew him.

“Walusimbi told the Police that one of his victims cried, “Yii Baker, oyagala kutubba ng’ate tukumanyi (Shame upon you Baker, you want to rob us yet we know you)!”

Magara said Walusimbi, who confessed upon arrest, would be taken to court after investigations are complete.
He said a white car (registration number withheld) had been cited in the robbery besides the gray Toyota Carina UAG 137H that Walusimbi claimed he had bought.

Upon receiving complaints about a white car, Magara suspected that there could be other culprits still at large and that the robbery racket could be big.

Nabbaale, a daughter of Jimmy Sserukeera, a Kikuubo trader, was buried in Matugga on Bombo road last week. Her mother lives in England. Serukeera did not know of his daughter’s death until the Police informed him on January 23.

All the women were first raped before their throats were slit open. One of the girls dumped in a sand quarry near Lutembe beach, was found lying in a pool of blood with the knickers ripped off.

The head of Kajjansi Police Station, Patrick Wacha, confirmed that the victims were first raped before being slain.
A resident of the area, John Baptist Mubiru, said on the fateful day, he saw a car driving out of the quarry at around 4:00am.

The car was later impounded and found to have dumped the bodies there.
