RETIRED Mityana Diocese Bishop Wilson Mutebi has blamed the increasing HIV/AIDS rate in the Church on the generosity of female Christians.

“Virginity is every woman’s pride. Men also want to marry virgins but this is now mythical. Female Christians are too generous. They give in to even useless men, allowing them to play with their bodies,” he said.

He said many men masquerade as believers to hook born-agains, with no intention of marrying them and urged Christians to make vows to abstain from pre-marital sex.

“This is my message to those indulging in sexual activities. Make confessions to God and seek His forgiveness and an invitation back to the true Christian family,” he said.

Mutebi was presiding over a confirmation mass for 120 children at Ham Mukasa Church of Uganda in Mukono town.

Mutebi hailed Mukasa for availing the Church with land and urged Christians to emulate him by donating selflessly to Church activities.

He slammed people who seek success from shrines, saying earthly treasures are temporary.
Mutebi urged Christians to resist witchcraft, child sacrifice and adultery.

Mukono Diocese dean Stephen Kazimba urged Christians to observe peace during elections.
