SIR — while I understand the reasons for the current power cuts in the country, I am not happy with the way umeme handles its loadshedding “policyâ€.

It is not a rare thing to find a certain place without power, while a seemingly rich neighbourhood adjacent or opposite has power. These are places, we are told, where “important people†reside.
What is disturbing is that, while we, the “ordinary†people are already used to the power cuts and in fact prepare for it, because we even have a time table, our wealthy neighbours enjoy uninterrupted power supply yet we all pay taxes!
