THE Kampala Kids League (KKL) season opens with 192 children from Kampala, Jinja and Entebbe set to compete in the mini-cricket league due at Lugogo Oval today.

KKL administrative secretary Emma Ntwatwa said yesterday that most of the teams, named after their corporate sponsors, were composed of disadvantaged children from SOS Kakiri and Entebbe children centres.

KKL has offered Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) 20 slots for children from Naguru for the annual league set to run up to March 25.

“We have done this to give those less privileged children around Naguru a chance to interact with the rest of their colleagues,” Ntwatwa said.

The teams are grouped as Juniors (6-8years) comprising Pal champions, uganda telecom, Rwenzori, MTN and UK-based Axa Rosenburg cricket teams while the middle aged (Mids) (9-11years) category has Sadolin Paints, Alam Group, British Council and Dreams and Teams and Seniors (12-14years) event has Roko constructions, Splash, utl, and Citibank.
