My name is Susan Nampijja Lukyamuzi aged 27 years, a daughter of former Lubaga south MP John Ken Lukyamuzi and the late Proscovia Kilaga. In 1998 I joined Makerere University and pursued a degree in environmental management and graduated in 2002. Politics in our blood right from my grand father John Chrizestom Lukyamuzi who went on strike and refused to shave off his beards because the Kabaka of Buganda the late Sir Edward Mutesa II had been forced into exile. My grandfather inspired me into joining politics. I used to watch what he was doing and I picked interest in politics from that time. I had never thought of becoming an MP. My vision was to become a president of this country. My father has also inspired me into joining politics but above all I have the capacity to be an MP. I joined politics because I wanted to represent my people. I joined politics because I had a vision. I knew that my father was a capable and was liked by his electorate. When he was nominated to contest again for the same seat his electorate picked on me to represent them in parliament. It was not my father who fronted me to contest for Lubaga south parliamentary seat. It was the people of Lubaga south who asked me to stand. They even paid for my nomination fee. I will advocate for my people’s cause, assist the vulnerable like my father has been doing regardless of their political affiliation, religion or ethnicity. I will fight for Federo so that government does not impart on Buganda the regional tier. I will make sure that there is no elected Katikkiro in Buganda and I want to see Kabaka with enough powers. I will make Buganda issues a priority in my legislations. I will fight for the environmental conservation so that government does not degrade the environment by selling forests to investors. I will uplift the standards of my people mostly especially the youths and the women by starting income generating activities for development. I am not an amateur in politics because there is no school which teaches politics and its not only the aged people who have ideas. I believe young people like me have got also constructive ideas in politics. For example I researched for my father about the effects of spraying the water hyacinth on L. Victoria, which he articulated very well, and I also advised him to go on hunger strike over the bad roads in his constituency. I am the one who advised my father to urge government to enter into negotiations with LRA rebels in a neutral country outside Uganda. My supporters are very bitter and have promised to vote for me because they are not satisfied with the way my father was blocked from contesting again. One of my supporters said that they would vote for me because I am also a graduate in environmental management. They want to vote for me to ashame president Museveni that his ploy to expel my father from parliament was not a solution what he thinks is a problem in my father. They expelled a star but little they know that a rock would emerge. My father was a star in parliament but I am also a rock. For that case I am his dangerous substitute. Ends
