THE Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has moved into its sh15.2b office block. The block was handed over to UBOS by the finance ministry last week.

The bureau now moves to Kampala from Entebbe where it has operated since 1948.

“We wanted to have a building in Kampala for effectiveness of UBOS in statistics management and increase its accessibility to statistics producers and users,” Chris Kassami, the finance permanent secretary, said in a speech read by Keith Muhakanizi, the acting permanent secretary.

He said the building would reduce the dependency on rented property since it would house two other institutions, the Population Secretariat and the Uganda Computer Services.

Muhakanizi said the building was constructed under the second economic and financial management project of the finance ministry.

The project aims at improving the efficiency of public expenditure management.

Male Mukasa, UBOS chief, lauded the finance ministry and the World Bank for their contributions.
He said the building would enhace efficiency.
