By Mikaili Sseppuya KAMPALA A-Z, a new tool that will help residents and visitors find their way around the fast expanding city, will be launched in March.
A-Z is a large-scale atlas that identifies streets, roads, buildings and other major features of the city.
It has a reference directory index, Odoobo Bichachi, the Tourguide Publications Ltd’s managing editor, said. Other cities have such maps.
“The publication has been prompted by the long felt lack of comprehensive and handy guides for visitors and locals around the fast growing city.
“It will help direct people to important or interesting parts of the city. It has landmarks like streets, buildings, roads, and schools,†he said.
Bichachi said to make it handy and easy to use, the complete and detailed map of Kampala is broken into blocks, each containing great detail like buildings, roads, schools and supermarkets.
He said the map would be updated annually.
“It will be of value to businesses that take out advertising as their locations will be clearly pointed out on the map and listed in the classified index.
“The index will be classified according to the nature of business. Using grid references, a prospective customer will easily find their premises without making a telephone call or wander around the streets,†he said. Ends
