kayunga — Ntenjeru north MP candidate Alia Nabayego Ssepuuya has described incumbent Sarah Nansubuga Nyombi as a grandmother who should retire and leave politics to the younger generation. Ssepuuya, a DP member, on Wednesday told a rally at Nsotoka Grounds that Nansubuga took a sh5m bribe to vote for a 3rd term for the president. Nansubuga recently blasted Ssepuuya for saying she was a P.7 drop-out.

MASAKA — The NRM candidate for Kabula, James Kakooza, has cried foul to President Museveni over independent candidates. welcoming Museveni at a rally in Lyantonde on Thursday, Kakooza appealed to him to restrain independents Eric Sewandigi Junior  and Michael Baingana. from campaigning under the NRM flag.
Officer warns
KAMULI — District returning officer Joyce Wadri has warned election officials against election malpractice during and after the polling exercise. She was meeting district election officials at the Youth Centre on Thursday. “Some officers have a tendency to doctor or fabricate results but I warn them that we shall deal with them accordingly,†she said, and advised candidates and their supporters to remain calm.
DPC urges
GULU — District Police chief Richard Mvule has warned candidates against holding rallies beyond the stipulated time. He said on Thursday that they had learnt of candidates holding rallies till late in the night and later on organising celebrations for the crowds. He said the Police would take serious steps against those who broke the law.
EC cancels
MUKONO — The Electoral Commission has disqualified an FDC candidate over violation of electoral laws. Lwanga Kizito, who was contesting for the LC3 chair in Nabbaale sub-county, reportedly failed to resign 90 days before nominations. Kizito’s rival Edward Ndawula said Kizito is still a civil servant, which the EC verified. Kizito is a teacher at Seeta primary school. This leaves Ndaula, an NRM candidate, unopposed.
