ENERGY minister Syda Bbumba has said her political opponents who recently petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) over her academic papers, are wizards, writes Vision Reporter.

“Some people were saying I don’t have academic qualifications. To me, those are simply wizards,” Bbumba, the NRM parliamentary candidate in the four-man race, said at a rally at Nakaseke ssaza headquarters, on Wednesday.

One candidate, Edward Sempala, recently challenged her nomination, saying she used forged academic papers.

Bbumba whom the EC cleared last week, said she had “a full file of academic credentials including two university degrees, three diplomas and a ‘heap’ of certificates.”
“I don’t want to make noise over my academic credentials because the issue is service to the people,” she said.

Bbumba who arrived in a long convoy of cars carrying chanting supporters, said her opponents were threatened because she was too strong for them.

She said she expected an easier victory than the one in 1996, because she has since graduated from ‘a heavy-weight’ to a ‘super heavyweight.’

Bbumba said because of her ability, she was quickly promoted to a full cabinet minister.
