Hi children! A hair band is worn on the head to keep the hair in place. This week, we show you how to make your own hair band. Ask an adult to help you out.
What you will need
- A pretty piece of cloth - Needle and thread - A tape measure or ruler - Elastic, a piece of chalk - Scissors
Draw a rectangle which is 34cm wide and 14cm long on the piece of cloth with chalk and cut it out. See fig 1a: Fold it in half along the dotted line as in fig 1a. Ask a grown up to help you stitch the bottom ends together along the dotted line like in fig 1b. Iron it so that the stitched end is now in the middle. See fig 2: Cut the piece of elastic so that it measures 10cm. Sew it on to the hair band as in fig 3. To wear the hair band, style the hair any way you like and then slip the hair band on your head to keep the hair in place like in fig 4. Boys can make this as a gift for the female member of their family. Have fun.
