Because Uganda is a multi-party state, the different political parties have different people representing them. The NRM candidate is Yoweri Museveni while the FDC candidate is Dr. Kizza Besigye. The Democratic Party is represented by Ssebaana Kizito and the UPC candidate is Miria Obote. There is one candidate who does not represent any political party. He is an independent candidate. His name is Dr. Abed Bwanika. One of these five candidates will become the president of Uganda after the elections which will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006
