STANHope Finance Company has given a testimony of how the manager of Lanex Forex Bureau fraudulently obtained over sh35m from them.

Janandana Keyikikaly, Stanhope’s senior manager, said Roopesh Dhirajlal Solanki (31) obtained the money after forging a savings account passbook for Stanhope Finance Company.

Solanki forged a passbook on June 28 in the names of Wen Bin. Keyikikaly said this at Buganda Road Court before chief magistrate Margaret Tibulya.

He said the suspect claimed the passbook was issued by Stanhope, which was false.

Solanki is facing three counts of fraud: forgery of the passbook, using a false passbook and obtaining money by false pretence.

The witness was asked to re-appear in Court to provide more evidence on April 5. Keyikikaly promised to deliver the bank statements of the savings account the suspect had used.

Prosecutor Mary Consulate Ujeo said the suspect had other fraud cases contained in three other files, making a total of four files.
