MBALE — Samia Bugwe MP Aggrey Awori has filed a petition challenging the election of Stephen Mugeni Wasike as MP for the constituency. In election petition No. 0002 of 2006, with over 60 pages, filed yesterday, Awori seeks the nullification of the results, saying the election was not free and fair. “This election was not fair and should not be taken as a yardstick in a democratic country like Uganda,” he told journalists after he filed the petition at Mbale High Court. He said the election was marred by intimidation of his supporters, bribery, vote falsification and massive rigging.
