THE house centipede (scutigera coleopterata) is about one to three inches long and its body is yellowish gray with longitudinal dark stripes. The 15 pairs of legs are very long. The antennae are also long.
In houses, the centepede is found in damp places such as basements and bathrooms where it preys on insects and spiders. There are several larval stages before reaching maturity. The adults and nymphs may be found together in harborages.
Control measures: Reducing the presence of insects and spiders indoors, may help to limit its population, while leaving the bathroom dry can also be another way to control these anthropods. Aerosol sprays and dusts in cracks and crevices, may be effective. Sticky traps may also be used. solube2005@yahoo.co.uk
